The Merced Economic Chamber is the result of the merger of three organisations that separately represented commerce, industry and the real estate sector.
At the end of 1952, after attending a meeting at the Subsecretaría de Trabajo on matters of common interest to the three institutions, the leaders of the “Centro Comercial e Industrial”, the “Asociación Propietarios de Bienes Raíces” and the “Unión Comerciantes e Industriales de Mercedes”, recognising the importance of associative work, considered the possibility of merging them into a single organisation.
