AgriVETourism develops a flexible VET pathway to strengthen the skills of adults, rural operators and agritourism professionals, integrating sustainable farming practices, hospitality management and rural tourism development.
AgriVETourism – Enhancing Sustainable Agritourism through Vocational Education and Training for Rural Development was created to support the growth of a more sustainable and competitive agritourism sector, deeply rooted in rural areas. The project responds to the need to strengthen the skills of sector operators by combining sustainable farming practices, hospitality management, eco-tourism and tools for the development of more resilient agritourism businesses.
The project includes the design and development of a modular, learner-centered VET programme aimed at working-age adults, agritourism operators, students and VET trainers. The training pathway will be built on an analysis of needs and good practices in the partner countries, with particular attention to topics such as environmental sustainability, energy use, farming practices, tourist experience management, marketing, social responsibility and the cultural enhancement of local areas.
The main activities include the development of a skill gap analysis, the design and development of the VET curriculum, a capacity-building activity aimed at students and trainers, as well as communication, dissemination and local stakeholder engagement actions. The project also aims to produce dissemination materials, newsletters, a website and three multiplier events, one in each participating country.
MAReA participates as the Italian partner, contributing to the design of the activities, the development of training content, dissemination and, above all, the organization of VET training in Italy. The partnership is coordinated by the Municipality of Petrich in Bulgaria and also involves iAgroCert in Greece, bringing together expertise in rural development, agri-food, vocational training, sustainable tourism and European cooperation.
Through AgriVETourism, the partnership aims to foster new training opportunities for rural communities, promote green skills and support agritourism models capable of generating economic, environmental and social benefits in the areas involved.
